Mumbai’s Income Tax Commissioner’s Election Song – Harr Vote Zaroori Hai Captures Young Millenial Minds
In a bid to urge people to exercise their democratic right in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a young gun from Income Tax Department Mumbai has found a new, musical way to inspire new voters to vote. This new video up and viral with the punch-line ” Harr Vote Zaroori Hai” highlights the fact that Voting is not only our Right, it is our Power.
Featuring several people from various walks of life, the video is winning hearts online amongst millenials. One can find policemen, govt officials, auto rickshaw drivers, middle-aged women & men, senior citizens etc flaunting their ‘inked finger’ mark to urge new voters and youth to vote.
The song is sung by Sonal Sonkavde, deputy income tax commissioner from Mumbai. Sonal is from the 2010 batch of civil services. She came up with this election song during her election duty in Nainital this year. The idea was to make a song to encourage voters came from the administration of Nainital city but since then it has reached all corners of India.
The song is written by Dr D.N Bhatt, composed by Dr Harish Joshi and is sung by Sonal Sonkavde IRS and Mr Abhishek Bhatt .
The song made with the objective to motivate the youth to register, to ask people to vote ethically has gone viral over YouTube and has captured popular imagination with it’s 20000 views on social media .
Prime Minister Narendra Modiji had appealed celebrities and influencers to creatively ensure high voter awareness and participation in the coming elections. Since then many celebs and personalities have been religiously appealing masses to vote and celebrate #DeshkaMahatyohar as promoted by the Election Commission of India.
Sonal who had bagged Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award in 2017 for singing in the past has taken her passion for the art one notch higher by joining forces with like-minded people and creating this micro video ‘Harr Vote Zaroori Hai’.
