Varsha Naik represents Indian Culture at “Dancing in the Spotlight” in Symphony Space Theatre New York City
Spotlight Productions celebrated their ninth year at Symphony Space Theatre located at New York City. Varsha Naik’s Navrang Dance Academy, NJ shined at the Symphony State theatre. The only act that featured an Indian Dance form at the show – “Dancing in the Spotlight”. Varsha Naik, who is the choreographer, along with her talented team of 21 dancers proudly showcased Indian culture and art through their dance at the prestigious Symphony Space Theatre on Broadway.
Spotlight Productions Celebrates in Style This Year at Symphony Space on Broadway in honor of NYFW Spotlight decided to incorporate exotic styles from around the world. It is one of the only theatrical shows in New York that welcomes a variety of over 250 performers both young and Elite, from all backgrounds and in all style including: Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Ballet and most recently Indian Dance. Spotlight believes in creating a platform for everyone to shine. The company was founded almost a decade ago by Masha Lakhter who is the CEO. She not only produces the show each year but, is a performer as well.
For the first time ever, Varsha Naik joined Spotlight production organization with Navrang Dance Academy. It was pure magic witnessing this Indian Group. They brought such a vibrant and colorful presence to our show. The stage was illuminated by their beautiful spirits, costumes and movement. The love of dance was quite visible and our audience of 800 spectators was left with memorable impressions of style and grace.
“It’s the dream for any dancer to perform on this prestigious stage and I find myself extremely lucky to have gotten the chance. I would like to thank Spotlight Production for organizing “Dancing in the Spotlight”. Every piece of dance was spectacular, colorful and fascinating on this stage,” says Varsha.
This was a huge opportunity for us to showcase one of the many Indian Dance forms and be a part of the bigger dance community,” she said.
