Versha Sethi showcased “Queen of Banaras” collection in Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Doha. The show was beautifully choreographed by Lokesh Sharma of Jaipur.
Older than history, older than traditions and even older than any other legend princesses introducing “Queen of Banaras” collection. Jaipur based fashion designer Versha Sethi, who was also the sole designer who presented her collection “Queen of Banaras” at the “Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Doha”. She was the only Indian fashion designer to showcase her talent at this prestigious international Fashion Week. Her collection consist design inspiration from the Mughal period around 14th century when weaving of brocades with intricate designs, using gold and silver threads became the specialty of Benaras (India)were used. The fashion show was beautifully directed and choreographed by Lokesh Sharma from the Pink city.
“I am delighted to showcased my collection on such an international stage and represent our culture and traditions through my designs. My collection depicts work done by weavers of India and aim to raise awareness and support weavers from Benaras, who craft beautifully decorated Benarasi Silk garments. The designs are the beautiful cultural variation from 14 century to 20 century, where traditional Benarasi fabrics are done with lot of hard work and skillful work using the silk. The outfits are fully filled by the beauty of Indian princess from Mughal emperor brides to independent brides of today maintaining the rich traditional culture of India. Fabrics used to design the collection are Jamdani, Tanchhui, Karwa, Katan Silk and Kimkhwab. This collection is dedicated to all the weavers who brighten the fashion world with their endless efforts, in a pursuit to keep the tradition of our artwork alive.”, says Versha.
The show director Lokesh Sharma added “It was a great moment when I directed and choreographed this show second time. More then 20 models walked on the ramp in my direction. In Versha Sethi’s show models walked on the ramp on the Indian Classical Music, which attracted the audience.
